Some quick updates
I’m leaving to go hiking to a volcano and a black sand beach (!!!) soon, so I have a couple minutes to leave some quick updates.
I can’t believe I was traveling for 14 hours yesterday. I left the house at 5am, and was either on a plane or in an airport until 9pm (6pm HST). I needed 3 planes to get to Hilo; one plane to Maui (I forgot which city), one plane to Honolulu, and one final...
9:18am
I’m currently in an airport terminal, sitting on a rocking chair with a view of the city of San Diego. In an hour, I will be on a plane bound for Hilo, Hawaii. As a baby boy sitting beside me coos in an adorable attempt to distract me, I turn my head and gaze upon the tarmac as multiple planes lift off, taking the skies for their worldly destinations. Sorry, cute baby boy, but my mind is...

Headaches: Expert Mode
I was given a stack of medical literature to read for research, literature that focuses on headaches.
The opening paragraph for one of the books:
A. Pain-Sensitive Structures Within the Cranial Vault
These include the venous sinuses (eg, sagittal sinus); the anterior and middle meningeal arteries; the dura at the base of the skull; the trigeminal (V), glossopharyngeal (IX), and vagus (X)...

Dear Coke Talk: On an afterlife. →
Would you believe in the idea of an afterlife, or a greater meaning, if it was concurrent with everyone losing their individuality with death?
Would that fit in with your worldview? So in a sense there would be “nothing” in the great beyond, because in dying we’d lose our individuality and our entire sense of being.
Your advice is so constructive and empathetic, much more so than almost...

then I don’t know what will. I swear, it’s HILARIOUS. Credit to Justin T. for sharing.

i have horribly strict parents who, although i am 22 years old, still feel that they must control where i go and what i do. i can’t be out past 9 at night and whenever i ask to leave the house with friends they get angry and tell me life isn’t about just partying. i’m a 4.0 student at school and i don’t drink or do drugs. how can i convince them to just let me live my life?
Let me guess....
"Yes"
I would really like to write something meaningful in this white space that continues to be entrapped by a cage of frustration and expectation. Like this white space, my recent life has lacked that oomph lately, and I persist in this seemingly futile quest for something more.
Wait I lie. Lunch in Pasadena was pretty bomb.
Hospital volunteering has become rather routine lately, a never-ending...
Yesterday
was a sad day in sports for me (and many people as well).
Major NCAA sanctions against USC Football and Basketball
Lakers lost Game 4 of the NBA Finals
I don’t feel like saying much more.
My mom is the reason I will fail in life
I tried out Restaurant Week at Bar Celona today, and of course I brought along the D90 to take pictures. Unfortunately, I came home to find my mother furious that I had taken the camera to Pasadena without telling her.
Herein lies a rant that, time and time again, frustrates me to no end.
My mom decided to confiscate the camera because apparently I had lost her trust. There are just way too many...
Dear Coke Talk: On smoking. →
When did you start smoking cigarettes? Do you think 14/15 is too young to start? If someone starts (well, me) at 14 (already started), is it possible to keep it under control or should I stop altogether? How do you smoke? Are you addicted? Please map this ground out for me because I’m lost.
I had my first cigarette in a church camp bathroom, not coincidentally on the same night that...
I've figured out my six-word memoir
Never take no for an answer.
Some thoughts
Excited about tomorrow. I’m finally getting a D90!
I’m proud of myself for making more text posts compared to photo posts, at least recently.
I can’t wait to read someone’s 100th post. Hurry up and post it already! :P
Death of a Legend
I visited my high school today, and really talked to the teachers and students for the first time in about a year. I was going to talk about how much has changed since I graduated two years ago, but something else has come up. A reflection on my coming of age shall have to be postponed, for I have something of far greater importance to lament on.
I read that college basketball legend John Wooden...
